America's Little Secret!

Why Aren’t Black Men Graduating From College?

Last week, the American Council on Education issued a report on the state of black males in the higher education system. The report reveals some interesting and disturbing trends. It turns out that black men are graduating from college at a rate which lags significantly behind other ethnic groups.

When determining graduation probabilities over a six-year period, black males were found to have a graduation rate of 35 percent. This compares with rates of 59 percent, 46 percent and 45 percent for white males, hispanic males and black women, respectively. In other words, black men are a little more than half as likely to finish college when compared to their white male counterparts.

This is just the tip of the "ice berg" ... cities like Detroit have a 75 % drop out rate, the number tops 90% when applied to black males. We Americans are building prisons to house these drop outs, in fact we're building more prisons than schools.

The saddest part is this - tax payers are footing the bill either way - as the old oil filter commercial use to say, " You can pay me now, or pay me later"

STATE of mind !

Even as the national economy manages to stay above water, the local picture is more complex. A number of states are starting to bounce back while other local economies remain under duress. Compared to a year ago, the employment picture has gotten even worse in 26 states, while conditions have stayed the same or improved in the other states. For many distressed states and cities, conditions may soon improve, while in other areas, conditions may worsen yet further.

To get a sense of the relative levels of distress, we can look at recently-released state unemployment rates.

These 12 states have double-digit unemployment rates, and only Michigan and South Carolina have made any real progress. Michigan has been very aggressive in attracting new industries such as advanced batteries, and is also benefiting from a modest rebound in auto production. Many of those new jobs have not yet come online as factories are only being built, but Michigan could benefit from a virtuous cycle where each new job creates ancillary employment in businesses that service employees of those new factories.

Four out of 10 states with the highest unemployment rates reside in our nation's Rust Belt (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio). Five Keys To Home Business Success!

Do you think you can manage time better? Well you can’t! Time management is a myth. Time is time, and that is a fact. What you can do is manage yourself in time better! Here’s how…

1) Manage Your Physical and Mental Energy:

Physical energy is important for producing at your peak. Ever feel so tired that you can’t even think about starting to work or execute? Or a headache that does the same? Well you have to put yourself first. This means working out regularly, eating right, getting enough sleep, etc. I know I know, this sounds like some 1st grade stuff here, but adults all too often overlook it. Every notice how top producing, energetic people are also fit and stick to strict regimens like this?

Mental energy is equally important to peak performance and doing better with yourself in the time you have available. Focus your energy on the dedicated task. Do not be reactive! This is key. Be in control of your activities in your time you have set aside for this activity. Have something to show for your time and efforts at the end of the day, so you aren’t asking yourself “what happened to those 8 hours, and what did I do?” And be sure to plan every day.

2) Tackle Overwhelm:

To start, overwhelm is better than underwhelm. Overwhelm means growth. Underwhelm means stagnation. Remember this the next time you are panicking with lots to do or too much information being thrown your way. It takes this feeling of overwhelm to grow and achieve, so get used to it and tackle it. To do so, you must schedule time to manage information, such as studying and learning. Again plan. Set appointments like you would any other appointment. You wouldn’t miss a doctor appointment or a dinner meeting would you? Also, when managing your information, disconnect from distractions such as your phone, email, instant messenger, twitter, and even family. It is imperative to have creative days to focus and think and manage this new information. It can not be a small 10 minutes on the run between meetings. Plan and set aside time for this and overwhelm won’t seem so overwhelming!

3) Know What Steals Your Time:

As mentioned, be aware of distractions taking you away from working at peak performance. This means cutting out actions that do not align with your goals and objectives. Ask yourself, “is this a high yield benefit of my time?” And be sure to set up rules and boundaries when you are working. Again shut off the phone and email if you have to write a sales letter or create a presentation. Then schedule time for distractions! Yes, that’s right. But do that at the end of the day. Schedule your most important tasks in the morning and the distractions or less important things at the end. You will accomplish more by noon than most do all day by planning!

4) Importance of Your Environment

Your environment sets the stage for productivity. A certain cramped table or office can significantly reduce your efficiency and creativity. Find different environments for different activities even! Get on the computer in one room, and be creative or write in another. Or work in your home office for some, and go to a quiet local coffee shop for others. Just know that if you are in a rut, change your environment and it may surprise you!

5) How to Place a Dollar Value on Your Time

Lastly, and most importantly, place value on your time. This formula was originally from Dan Kennedy and his explanation that you might be doing too much. If you knew what your time was worth, you may stop doing all of the lesser revenue producing activities and outsource them so you can focus on the creative, high-yield tasks. The formula works like this:

a) How much do you make (or want to make) this year? for our example let’s say $250,000
b) There are 365 days/year, but let’s reduce that to 250 working days/year
c) How many hours/day do you work? for our example we’ll use 8 hours, which comes to 2,000 hours/year
d) Your time is then worth $125/hour. BUT studies show only about 3 hours of those 8 are profit producing hours (so really that is only 750 hours of revenue producing per year). So your actual time is worth $333/hour!! (3 X what you originally thought).

Once you see this, you won’t want to waste time and/or procrastinate nearly as much as before. Go ahead put a dollar value on your time.

In summary, using these 5 steps will allow you to much more effectively manage yourself in time and beat the time management myth. You will be not only more productive, but more successful. And you should also grow with new time to do the activities you have continually put on the back burner in the wake of the day to day business and distractions you have put up with.

The Four Things You Need In Your Business and are not getting from your Leadership /Upline / Friend/Family /Foes

1. Your Upline. No offense to your upline but they're still using old school sales and prospecting techniques and this is what they're telling you to do. But here's the thing, we're not really in the sales and prospecting business... we're in the marketing business. Sales and prospecting is for a salesman and you may be an amazing salesman and more power to you, but most of us have a hard time with it. Yes, you can have some success with these techniques, and some have outstanding success. But, the fact is... it really only works for about 3% of people who get into this business. The other 97% of us are left struggling to reach a full time income. And this leads us into reason number 2..

2. Your Business Opportunity. No, I'm not saying it's not a great business opportunity. What I am saying is that most people promote their business opportunity which falls right into their upline has taught them to do and this is their first and biggest mistake when marketing online and here's why. Once you get online, especially on the social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and you start promoting your business like crazy, you are basically saying that you are a salesman. And, noboby likes a salesman. Nobody wants to go to a party and listen to a sales pitch. If this is what you are doing on these sites, then that is exactly the position you are putting yourself into. So, if you are wondering why you're not getting any team members, why you are not getting any leads or any interest at all after spending hours of posting links on different websites and different social networks promoting your business opportunity, this is why. You cannot go online and start promoting your business. It is the fastest way to go broke and waste a serious amount of time. But... there is some good news. There is a strategy to go about promoting your business opportunity and it is very backwards from what you already know and are thinking, but it is very important to be successful with this industry.

3. So, you are now online and you understand a few of the strategies, so you start promoting your business, but unfortunately you are struggling with a Lack of Leads. For most business owners who try and bring their business online, this is the main problem. The Next Bill Britt - Tough Act To Follow !

So who's this Bill Britt guy, anyways? And why should I care?

Before becoming an Amway legend, Bill Britt lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was a broke, frustrated City Manager. Immediately after becoming involved, he began to break sales records - and his organization has not slowed down for more than 30 years. More than 2 million distributors are involved in Amway today as the direct result of Bill Britt building a strong foundation in his business more than 30 years ago.

When hearing about Bill, the income predictions fly. For three years starting in 1984, I was an active Amway distributor ( 18 yr old hopeful) at which time I had the privilege of attending several events where Bill Britt was a keynote speaker. I remember hearing people speculate that he makes anywhere from $10 million per year all the way up to $30 million per year. (As a brief note - I am not in any way involved with the Amway corporation today, and this can in no way be construed as an income claim - I'm merely reporting what I heard.)

Bill has one of the most loyal followings that I have ever ran into in the world of business. Bill Britt was the keynote speaker at a major conference I attended in 2005 . As Bill Britt spoke, the room was silenced with one of the most persuasive speeches I have ever heard. The reverence he had from his audience was on par with a Rock Star, or one of the ancient Egyptian Pharoahs - I've never seen anything like it. In Bill Britt's ranting, I was so caught up with the atmospheric enthusiasm that I almost didn't realize that I don't even know if he mentioned the Amway business at all...

The methods used by Bill in building his business are those of traditional Network Marketing - Home Meetings, Hotel Meetings, and Weekend Events. Primarily, the foundation for his business was laid in the late 60's.

He also has developed one of the largest and most profitable personal development companies in the world - each week sending out millions of tapes, books, and training materials to his downline organization. It is estimated that more than 50% of Bill Britt's income comes from CDs, books, and seminars, although there is no way to verify this claim other than pure conjecture.

Bill Britt belongs to a world of the past - he preaches a godly government, limited government intervention in our personal lives, family values above all else - and oh, I almost forgot that he occasionally mentions Amway.

What If !

I Was So Naive! I Got Scammed Countless Times... And I admit it… It was brutal and I got creamed. I maxed out redit cards and almost went bankrupt… which left me disappointed, frustrated, fed-up and ANGRY!

And what really sucked is that I had no one to blame because I was the one that was naive and the one who bought into these crooked "deals."
